Roll tacks

Roll tacks work best while sailing in stronger winds but they work well in lighter winds as well.

You usually sit on the high side of the boat to keep it as flat as possible. In a roll tack, instead of changing sides as you tack, you stay in the same place. When you are finished the tack you are on the low side of the boat. After the boat has started to tip you jump to the other side, flattening the boat, while you pull in the main sail. This can help you gain speed on a tack or mark rounding. It can be done in keel boats or dinghy’s.

What are some of the dangers of this?
